TEXAS CATTLE RANCH PROJECT

KING RANCH

  • Founded by Richard King.
  • Located in South Texas but was know as "Wild Horse Desert" in 1853.
  • Mr. King's brand was registered in 1859.
  • King was a steamboat pilot by trade.
  • King bought the land and partnered with Ranger Legs Lewis who, launched the the livestock operation.
  • Brand looks like a runaway "w".
  • In 1854, not only did King buy all of the cattle from one Mexican village suffering from drought but he also bought the village humans to work on the ranch.

6666 RANCH

  • Officially established by Samuel B. Burnett in 1990.
  • The headquarters is located in the town of Guthrie, in King County.
  • In 1902 bought 107,520 acres in Carson Hutchinson counties.
  • After his death, the ranch was established by his great granddaughter,Anne Marion.
  • It spans 350,000 acres of land currently.

J.A RANCH

  • The JA ranch is jointly founded by John Adair and Charles Goodnight.
  • It is 1,335,000 acres big.
  • Can be found in the Palo Canyon .
  • Contains a herd of 100,000.
  • This ranch was added to the National Register of Historic Places listed in Armstrong County in 1996.

WALLACE RANCH

  • Founded by William Wallace.
  • The founder was 6"2 and 240 pounds.
  • Wallace was named after the town Bigfoot,Texas and named after the local museum.
  • Mr. Wallace served Texas as a Ranger.
  • Mr.Wallace was apart of many Mexican invasions such as the Black bean Incident and the Battle of Meir.

MATADOR RANCH

  • This ranch was established in 1882.
  • The matador ranch is an historic cattle ranch in Motley County, Texas on the South Plains.
  • Founded by Henry Campbell.
  • Matador is about as big 1,500,000 acres.
  • In 1879,with other four investors, Campbell launched the Matador Ranch.

WAGGNOR RANCH

  • This ranch covers Archer, Baylor, Foard, Knox, Wichita, and Wilbarger counties.
  • As big as 525,000.
  • Founded in 1871.
  • Mostly used for cattle and quarter horses.
  • This ranch is currently owned by Although Waggnor's granddaughter.

NORRIS RANCH

  • Its 620 acres of rolling oak woodland was owned and ranched by one family, the Marion and Julia Gill Andersons and their offspring, for nearly eighty years.
  • Lies in southern Nevada.
  • Full of Foothills, oak woodlands, working cattle ranch, ponds.
  • Brand is a "j" with a circle around it.
  • Has been passed down to the generations of the Norris family.
