HOUR 8

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?

  • Did the really do a hoax in New Jersey?
  • On Halloween they did a hoax and said that
  • Aliens had landed with people in the back screeming
  • They had put it on to the radio.

YES IT DID NOT HAPPEN?

  • On Halloween the year of 1938

HERE IS HIM BROADCASTING IT ON TO THE RADIO

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?

  • Did hitler take over a place called Vienna.
  • Vienna is the capital of Austria.
  • Vienna is in Central Europe.

YES IT DID HAPPEN!

  • Hitler did take over Vienna, Austria
  • He took it over on March 15, 1938
  • He was born in Austria

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?

  • If you were once friends with a Jew you stopped.
  • As soon as Hitler took over it was bad to be friends with a Jew.

YES IT DID HAPPEN!

  • You would walk past old friends and say nothing.
  • They would not even look at you.
  • If you were getting beat they would not help.
  • Because if you were a Jew you were looked at as dirty.
  • Even though you took showers and had clean clothes it didn't matter anymore.

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?

  • Did they take the Jews away?
  • And beat them to there death.
  • Beating them in the street.
  • Rounding all of them up.

YES IT DID HAPPEN!

  • Hitter would send the nazis out.
  • Then they would round up the Jews.
  • And whoever said no or fought back.
  • Was killed in the streets.
  • Beaten to death in front of friends and family.

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?

  • If you were not Jewish you would destroy there property.
  • Jewish owners building would get broken into.
  • The Germans would destroy everything in there path if it belonged to a Jew.
  • Jewish people were killed for going to non Jewish places.
  • Weren't aloud in stores.

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN #2

  • You couldn't go to many places
  • Any place you could go to would already destroyed.
  • Jews were robbed.
  • They were looked at as dirty.
  • Once who were rich were now homeless and poor.

YES IT DID HAPPEN!

  • All the things I had said before are true.
  • Many things were destroyed, but why?
  • The main reason was they have different beliefs.

PROTAGONIST

  • Julia Weiss
  • 11 years of age, female
  • Jewish
  • Blue eyes
  • Blonde hair

WHY IS JULIA THE PROTAGONIST?

  • This is her diary
  • It is her life
  • She's the main character
  • The story is mostly about her
  • A little bit about her family

HERO

  • Uncle Martin and Aunt Clara
  • Live in New York
  • Aunt Clara is an actor
  • Uncle Martin is a cook
  • Very wealthy

WHY THEY ARE THE HERO?

  • Hitler attacked Vienna
  • She lived in Vienna
  • She would have been killed
  • They vouched for her to come to America.
  • She went and they took care of her

CONFLICT

  • Man vs. man
  • She has to pick between family or aunt and uncle.
  • She will never be able to see her family again.
  • Although she picks her aunt and uncle there is still a conflict.

WHAT IS THE TOTAL CONFLICT?

  • She must choose to never see her family ever again.
  • She must do that in order to live.
  • If she would have chosen to stay she would have died.
  • The reason she would have died is because she is Jewish.
  • She would have been sent to a concentration camp.
