  • More than 70,000 people were killed instantly
  • And over 70,000 people had fatal injuries
  • Also known as Genbaku Dome "Genbaku" meaning atomic bomb in Japanese
  • Finished building on 1915
  • Opened to the public in 1921
  • Became registered on UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1996
