ID&T: A Summary and Analysis
What is Instructional Technology?
Instructional technology was once defined mainly as using media like film or radio. Today, it's seen as a process that improves learning
What is Instructional Design?
Instructional design is a process that plans learning experiences. The ADDIe model- analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate, is the foundation.
The field evolved from audiovisual instruction in the 1900s, to systematic design models in the 60s-70s, and today to digital and online learning environments.
Theories and Foundations: The field is grounded in learning theories, behaviorism focusing on reinforcement, cognitivism on mental processes, and constructivism on learners building their own meaning.
Instructional design and technology is systematic and always evolving, but the ultimate goal remains to improve learning outcomes.
