PRODUCT

  • Milton Hershey was born in 1857.
  • In 1894 Milton began experimenting with chocolate
  • by coating his carmel candies with it.
  • The Hershey Bar was first sold in 1900.
  • The weight of a Hershey Bar is 1.55 ounces.

  • Hershey purchases it's cocoa for the candy bars
  • from west Africa and other tropical places.
  • They produced over one billion chocolate bars for
  • troops during World War II.
  • They sell chocolate in 90 countries around the world.

  • Hershey has limited pricing power.
  • They have the benefit of a lower average cost.
  • They can always match or outdo any introductory
  • offers of the sort.
  • Hershey can sell at a much lower price than a new entrant.

  • Now in 2013, it is 99¢.

  • are Mars Incorporated, Nestlé S.A and Mondelez

  • Mar's is Hershey's closest rival.
