GREATEST WORK

Greatest Work:
Many people consider that “Moby Dick” is Herman Melville’s greatest work. “Moby Dick” at a glance appears to be a quite simple story but has a deeper meaning. A captain named Ahab is on the hunt for a white whale named “Moby Dick”. The captain ends up getting killed by the whale. Melville hid deeper meaning in this book like the defeats and triumphs of the human spirit. Also, Melville brought up the human spirits creative and murderous urges.

“There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.” ― Herman Melville, Moby-Dick

This quote is important because it applies to all of our lives. This quote shows how the world can seem at time to be completely against us.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION

Essential Question:

My essential question is: How do our views on life impact us?

I believe that this question is applicable to the book Moby Dick because the book covers many complicated topics about the human spirit and I believe that this question encompasses that .

Answer: My answer to this question is that I believe that if we have a extreme negative view all we will sen into our walk through life is the negatives. This leaves us with missing the maybe small but still positive notes.
