Died when he was 12. This was the loss of his greatest support.

Fred Reden taught Henry about the steam engine. His goal became "making a machine that would travel the roads."

Marrying Clara Jane Bryant

He found support and encouragement in his ventures.

Working for Detroit Dry Dock Company gave Henry the skills he needed to design his engine.

Meeting Thomas Edison

This inspired him to keep working to make the vehicle.

People calling him crazy when he rode his Quadricycle

Most people would have halted their building but it just made Ford more determined to build the best vehicle.

Winning Detroit Car Race

  • Gave Henry the drive and inspiration to build the best car.

Horace and John Dodge supplied Ford with parts.

The won a tremendous lawsuit against Ford.

Losing Race for U.S. Senate

Ford fought for two years to have the race overturned by a recount.
