BASIC INFORMATION

  • Henry was an author and poet during the American Westward Expantion
  • He was most famous for his book called Walden, this was about simple living.
  • Thoreau has written enough articles, books, and poetry to fill up 20 volumes of his work
  • His work was based on Transcendentalism because he believed that it was important to be self reliant

"WALDEN"

  • This is Thoreau's best and most famous piece of literature.
  • It is based on the thought of simple living and is a Manual for self reliance.
  • It was a actual social experiment that he conducted on himself.
  • It was first published in 1854.
  • He did it as part to gain an understanding of society of social introspection.

Transcendentalism

  • Thoreau is well known for his writing during this time period.
  • This topic is basically how society was losing its grasp on religion
  • So therefore they, the writers of this time like Henry David Thoreau,
  • Wrote and tested to reach true selfreliance.
