What Is Heirloom?

  • An online service to immortalize the elderly's memories and lives.
  • Individuals, families or senior centers record interviews/conversations. Heirloom editors edit submissions, curate content and sort into categories.
  • Home page features best recent stories.
Start with your name and the name of your project. In some cases, a presentation will start with an attention-grabbing opening, an anecdote, a dramatic stat or fact, or a question for the audience. These devices help to engage the audience, grab everyone's attention, and establish your confidence as you get going.

Value Proposition

  • The U.S has roughly 2 million individuals in senior living facilities or hospice care
  • Gives individuals the opportunity to be autonomous in telling their story

  • Easily navigable database in order to deliver on the selling point of being a virtual history, timeline and storage space for U.S. history

How does the Heirloom process work?

  • Senior centers, family members, or individuals can subscribe.
  • They will be interviewed or just have a conversation. This will be recorded.
  • The subscriber will upload this content.
  • Content is edited for clarity and transcribed, then filed under a topic, time period or other tag.
  • The content will appear on that individual's profile (they have the option to keep the content private).

Revenue Sources

  • Subscriptions: Families/Individuals -or- Senior Centers/Assisted Living
  • Listeners: Subscription Listeners -or- One-time listeners
  • Donations/Sponsors
Make clear who this project/service/product is aimed at. Is it for a particular geographic audience, or a particular demographic group? Or is it for people with a particular interest (i.e. a psychographic?) Or maybe it's for people who have a particular problem or a certain need. Make clear who you are building this product/service/project for so that it's clear who will benefit from it.

Costs

  • Manager: One of us. Salary TBD.
  • Editor: Will edit submissions, transcribe them, sort them. Part time at $15/hr for 20hrs/week is $15,600 annually.
  • Web Developer: Initial budget of $10,000. Host fee of $100.
  • Marketer: Contact centers and sponsors. Also $15,600 annually.

Initial Funding

  • Sponsors: Companies and Nonprofits such as the Alzheimer's Society, Relay for Life, American Red Cross, etc.
  • Family and Friends
How will you make ends meet? What do you expect your primary three, five or 10 costs will be? What do you expect your primary revenue streams to look like, and how long do you expect it might take for you to get to that point? Why will people pay for your service/product and how will the value proposition differ from other products/services people are paying for?
