Explanation of Metaphor

I believe that the "...eye of a vulture", means that the eye can be a bad omen. I also believe that the narrator included "...a pale blue eye" to show how much it provoked him to kill the old nan.

Repetition
"Eye" (pg.89, 90, 92)

I believe the author included "eye" in the story several times to show how much it bothered the narrator.

Imagery
"... There came to my ears a low, dull, quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton",(pg.92).

I believe the author included this to make the poem climatic and to appeal the noise of which is a heart beat.

Simile
"a low, dull, quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton", (pg.94)

I belive that the authur included this to show and express the climitism in the poem

Personification
"... Death, in approaching him", (pg.91)
