WHAT IS HEAT? WHAT DOES HEAT Consists OF?

  • Heat is a the transfer of kinetic energy from one object or start from an energy source.
  • Heat can be traveled by three different ways which is radiation, conduction, and convection.
  • Heat is also the quality of being hot, ex: the sun, burner, stovetop, and gasoline.

WHAT IS HEAT TRANSFER??

  • Heat transfer is the transfer of energy between an object and its environment due to fluid motion which is convection.
  • Heat transfer also deals with radiation which is the transfer of energy by the emission.

CONVECTION

  • Convection is one of the transfer that heat can travel though
  • Convection is a heat transfer by mass motion of a fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat. Holding energy with it.
  • One example of convection is boiling water, radiator, ice melting, and a hot air ballon

CONDUCTION

  • In heat conduction energy is transferred from molecules.
  • These molecules can easily vibrate more or less quickly amongst each other.
  • In this energy conduction is moved by the movement of electrons or ions.
  • An example of conduction is ice cooling down your hand, touching a stove and being burned.

RADIATION

  • Radiation is the transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles though out space
  • This could be moved by x rays, radio waves, microwaves and visible lights.
  • An example of radiation is heat from the sun warming your face, heat from a light bulb, and heat from fire.

QUESTIONS ABOUT CONVECTION

  • Does this heat transfer method require a medium? Yes convection needs a medium to be able to transfer heat.
  • What types of matter can convection go through?Convection can travel in liquids, gases, and plasmas
  • How does energy move in convection? Energy is moved in convection by fluids such as air or water

QUESTIONS ABOUT CONDUCTION

  • Does conduction require a medium?? Conduction does require a medium because that’s the only way it can travel though
  • The types of matter that conduction can go through is metal it’s a good conduction of heat.
  • Energy is moved in conduction by solids.

QUESTIONS ABOUT RADATION

  • Does radiation require a medium? Radiation doesn’t need a medium because it already reaches its maximum efficiency in a vacuum.
  • Radiation doesn’t need a medium so it doesn’t travel through matter.
  • There is no need for a medium in radiation so the matter doesn’t work.
