Captain Beatty is the captain of montags fire department. He hates books and anybody that reads them. He always seems to be one step ahead of montag.

The theme of censorship can be found throughout part one. Books are banned, and if their found they are burned along with the house. Books are now seen as dangerous because they make you think and the government does not want that.

D is for the dystopia In which they live in. Books are illegal to have, and knowledge is a bad thing

E is for equality. In montags world they focus on having equality. It shows that too much equality is a bad thing.

F is for firemen. Firemen in the future start fires instead of putting them out.

Guy montag is the protagonist of the story. He is a third generation firefighter. When he meets his neighbor Clarisse, it opens his eyes and he realizes just how empty his world actually is. He is determined to break free from the oppression of ignorance.

The hound is a mechanical dog with eight legs. The hounds job is to kill all readers and thinkers. It has a needle extending from its nose which could paralyze, wound, or kill a person altogether. Montag gets scared when he thinks that the hound growls at him because he has been hiding books.
