WELCOME TO HAWAII

  • There is only one place in the world where pictures would do no justice to what you're seeing, where the sun is eclipsed by the clouds, and where the water is as clear as a crystal. This is Hawaii.

Hawaii, a Pacific State, is located in the Pacific Ocean 2,100 miles southwest of the mainland United States.

GEOGRAPHY

  • The state itself is made up of 132 islands, 8 of which are considered major islands.
  • Hawaii's capital is named Honolulu. The Population is around 1,392,313.
  • Does not border any other U.S state.
  • Main agriculture includes sugarcane, pineapples, macadamia nuts, and bananas. Tourism is the prime industry.
  • Total size is 6,423 sq. miles

ENTERTAINMENT

  • Hawaii is full of new and exciting entertainment specials only exclusively offered at Hawaii.
  • There are fire dances, hula dances, luau, and so much more! Make sure to see them all!

CLIMATE

  • If anything, Hawaii is known for its tropical climate.
  • In general, the Hawaiian islands receive most of their rainfall during the winter months. (October-April)
  • Drier conditions usually prevail from May to September, however the warmer temperatures increase the risk of tropical cyclones.

HISTORY/LANDMARKS

  • Normally, you wouldn't think so much about Hawaii being such a historical place, it's all about relaxation and fun times, however, believe it or not there are quite a few historical happenings here on these ancient islands. For example, on Honaunau Bay in south Kona, this 180 acre national historic park was once a place of refugees for ancient Hawaiian lawbreakers.
  • Pearl Harbor, which is located in Hawaii is famous for the surprise attack conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941.
  • Some great places to visit would be places like Pearl Harbor, Hawaii's Volcano National Park, here you can experience the breathtaking view of a dormant volcanoes up close! Also try seeing the Polynesian Cultural Center which is great if your bringing kids along with you, it is basically a huge theme park, just Polynesian Style, If you thought the Grand Canyon was great, think again! Try visiting the Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It is a large canyon which is around ten miles up and 3,000 feet deep!

LANGUAGE

  • The main language spoken at Hawaii is called Pidgin which is a slang combining words from many aspects of island life and culture, of course if you don't speak this language, don't fret! English is everywhere!

There are many types of foods that Hawaii is known for but probably the most famous dish is called Poi, this is a true Hawaiian food which consists of fish, smoked pork, taro, poi, and lau lau.

TRANSPORTATION

  • The best transportation around Hawaii would probably be by either bus, shuttle, taxi, car rentals, and boat
