She ran away when she heard she was being sold to a different owner in 1849.

She had to leave her family behind including her husband.

She left and used the underground railroad to escape to the north.

She traveled at night from house to house for two weeks until she finally made it to the North.

Harriet made many trips to the south to rescue many slaves including most of her family.

Harriet Tubman made so many trips to free other slaves that blacks started referring to her as Moses

She freed 300 slaves

Southerners offered a 12,000 dollar reward for her capture.
