THE BEGINNING

• Who is Liu Bang?
• -Liu Bang is the founder of the first emperor of Han Dynasty in 202 BCE
• -He lived from 259-195 BCE
• -He is the first emperor from a lower class (low ranking officer in the Qin Dynasty)

Why did Liu Bang call the new dynasty the Han?
-He changed his name to Han Gaozu which meant "Great ancestor" and that's how they named the "Han Dynasty"

HAN WUDI

• What educational system did the “Martial Emperor” put in place?
• - It is the Confucius system which is more of a morals or ethical system
• Please explain the key components of Han Wudi’s foreign policy.
• He attacked on surrounding civilizations and he excluded his Dynasty from Europe.

LAND AND REFORMS

• What kind of problems did small landowners face in China?
• They had so much debts because they had to hire workers or slaves.
• They had slaves and tenants who payed rent.
• At the end most of them had to sell their properties to richer landowners

Explain the different reforms put in place by Wang Mang.
Families that had less than 8 members could have 15 more acres of land. Wang Mang also blessed the poor peasants with less of their debts.
