The serpent that did sting thy father’s life
Now wears his crown.

Passage: 'Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard,
A serpent stung me. So the whole ear of Denmark
Is by a forgèd process of my death
Rankly abused. But know, thou noble youth,
The serpent that did sting thy father’s life
Now wears his crown.

Basically saying: Hamlet was sleeping and a snake bit me.

An example of corruption as a leader to gain power would be the Libyan Civil War back in 2011 underneath Mummar Al-Gaddafi.

The connection:
The people of Libya lived underneath constant dictatorship controlling everyone with fear.

To stay in power. He was willing to open fire on his own people.

Ukraine's Crisis

2014
Another connection I can make to today would be the Ukraine crisis in that was recently covered in the past year.

The main idea: Ukraine is stuck in a cultural divide between Europe and Russia. The Western divide speak in a native Ukraine language where the East thought

The connection: Viktor Yanukovych the president sided with Russia. Which left the west side of Ukraine betrayed to be thought to enriching himself.

Adelina Sotnikova Figure Skating Gold Medal was said to be rigged. Sotnikova'a performance looked a little less than impressive messing up on a triple axle causing her to step out of the landing. Choreography wasn't a strong point from figure skating enthusiasts.

Kim from south South Korea did a slightly simpler maneuver landing it perfectly.

In despite of contrasts of performance. Adelina from Russia still came up on top.

It is not confirmed if the competition was rigged or not but critics looked skeptical about the results with Russia on top.

In conclusion:
Claudius' framed murder can be seen as an unfair advantage over a group of people of self gain(The throne), and getting away with it.
