CHROMOSOMES THAT ARE AFFECTED

A female with 1 affected X chromosome is a carrier of hemophilia. If she is a carrie she can pass the affected X chromosome with the clotting factor gene mutation onto her children.

SYMPTOMS

MILD HAEMOPILIA,MODERATE HAEMOPILIA,AND SEVERE HAEMOPILIA

  • Causes internal bleeding and bruising
  • Painful swelling of joints
  • Digestive problems
  • Pain and swelling under the skin
  • Skin changes color

TREATMENTS

  • Diagnosed by blood tests after birth
  • Placenta is removed from the womb during weeks 10-13 of pregnancy
  • Amniotic fluid is taken for testing during weeks 15-20 of pregnancy
  • Replacement therapy
  • There are no future treatments
