PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HADES

Hades is the Greek god of the Underworld, wealth, and the Lord of the Dead. He is one of the Big Three which consist on Zeus, Poseidon, and himself.

Hades was so feared by mortals and demigods, that they rarely even used his name, and referred to him as either "The Rich One", "The Silent One", or "The Hospitable One".

Hades was the eldest male and fourth child of Kronos, the Titan King of Mount Othrys, and his sister-wife Rhea, known as "the mother of gods." Hades was born after his sisters Hestia, Demeter, and Hera, being the firstborn son of Kronos and Rhea.

Since Hades was a god, Kronos, fearing that Hades would one day overpower him, quickly proceeded to swallow him whole as shortly after birth. Hades, thus, spent his childhood undigested in his father's stomach along with his sisters, and younger brother Poseidon, who was swallowed shortly thereafter. As a result, Kronos became known as "The Cannibal King."

Hades and his siblings were later rescued from Kronos' gut by their youngest brother Zeus, who had tricked their father into puking, freeing his siblings.

HADES AND pERSEPHONE

Persephone was the goddess of springtime and flowers, daughter of Zeus, lord of the Sky, and Demeter, goddess of the harvest.

She was born after Zeus, determined to woo Demeter, transformed into a serpent and successfully seduced Demeter, who also turned into a snake to escape him but ended getting trapped in a hole by the lord of the Sky.
