Gyotaku is the traditional method of Japanese fish printing.

Gyotaku dates back to the mid-1800s. It was used by fishermen to record their catches. From there, it slowly developed into an artform on its own.

Gyotaku is used today to help develop a sense of texture and pattern. It also may be used to to teach about basic fish anatomy.
