THESIS

  • Gun control is necessary to stop gun related violence. Although the Second Amendment grants us the right to bear arms, I find it to be vague with the protection it also grants to the people.

HISTORY

  • 1911- "Sullivan's law" state issued license to possess a handgun
  • 1939- Supreme Court upholds National Firearms Act; ruling appears to limit Second Amendment

HISTORY

  • 1968- After the assassinations of many famous public leaders congress enacts gun control act barring interstate firearms sales to criminals and "mental defectives".

HISTORY

  • In 2007 155 kids between the ages of 15-24 were killed by accidental gun deaths

GUN RIGHTS

  • Some of the major arguments said by pro gun activists are:
  • Highest crime rate is in the cities with the most gun control.

GUN RIGHTS

  • If you put more gun control on states your only going to take the gun out of the law abiding citizens hands the criminals will still find a way to get one.

GUN RIGHTS

  • Background checks and micro stamping are an invasion of privacy.
  • It's not the gun but it's the person holding the gun.

GUN CONTROL

  • Facts about gun control:
  • On average 268 citizens are shot everyday and of those 268 citizens 25 are killed

GUN CONTROL

  • Gun killing has topped liver disease, Parkinson's, drowning, and fires.
  • The most unintentional firearm deaths are caused by friends and families.

GUN CONTROL

  • There were over 500,000 gun related deaths over the passed 10 years

SOLUTIONS

  • Trigger locks are a safe way to keep handguns locked up in the house
  • This method could help drop the number of accidental shootings in the house

SOLUTIONS

  • Another possible way could be to put a longer background check on guns
  • Letting the store do a more extensive check

SOLUTIONS

  • Schools could teach more about guns so people can know what their doing when it's around
  • They know how dangerous they are and won't fool around with them

CONCLUSION

  • In conclusion, I believe that furthering extending the gun control laws and regulations will best suit the American society and help protect the citizens of the nation.
