DISCRIMINATION STATISTICS

  • In a four-year study of religious discrimination around the world (2006-2010), Christians were the most-discriminated against group, experiencing harassment by the government and society in 168 countries.
  • Jews make up less than 1% of the population, yet experience discrimination in 85 countries — the third most of any religious group.

DISCRIMINATION BY RACE

  • In New York City, 80% of the stops made were blacks and Latinos, and 85% of those people were frisked, compared to a mere 8% of white people stopped.
  • After being arrested, African-Americans are 33% more likely than whites to be detained while facing a felony trial.

WHAT THE CIA DOES

  • Advise president on counter-terrorism strategy
  • Helios corrientes homeland security
  • Responds to terrorism, cyber attacks, natural disasters and pandemics

JOBS IN THE CIA AND HOW TO GET THEM

  • There are jobs in security, education, engineering, human resources, ect.
  • To get a job in the CIA someone must have a bachelors degree and 3.0 gpa from an acceptable college
  • They must show loyalty and integrity to the U.S.A
  • All applicants must undergo successful occupational testing to include an aptitude test, writing test, personality inventory, and interview.

EDUCATION

  • The process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. To prepare Americans for the jobs of the future and help restore middle-class security, we have to out-educate the world and that starts with a strong school system

THE AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

  • Education has gotten better and more inclusive over the course of American history.
  • President Obama feels that every child deserves a high quality pre-school education.
  • College costs are rising rapidly, therefor many Americans are not getting any secondary education.

EDUCATION AND THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH

  • Our executive branch cares greatly about the education of the American people.
  • Education is what can secure a great future in all aspects of America.

HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION

  • The president is also trying to enhance the quality if high school education.
  • Obama is taking great lengths to better the curriculum for high schools and to keep teachers in teaching jobs.

HEAD OF TGE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

  • Penny S. Pritzker
  • -Mrs. Pritzker was born May 2, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois (she is 55 years old)
  • she is an American business executive, entrepreneur, civic leader, and philanthropist
  • she earned an A.B. in economics from Harvard College in 1981 and both a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Standford University in 1984.
  • During Obama's 2008 White House run, Penny served as the national chairwoman of his campaign finance team, which shattered fundraising records and in the 2012 reelection she was a top bundler bringing in more than $500,000. Some of the awards that she has received include the Harry S. Truman award and the Woodrow Wilson award

WHAT THE DEPARTMENT DOES

  • -the main goal of the department is to create the conditions for economic growth and opportunity. -the department is made of economists, Nobel winning scientists, foreign service officers, patent attorneys, law enforcement officers, and specialists in everything from international trade to aerospace engineering.

  • Tom Vilsack -nations 30th secretary of agriculture -64 years old -has been secretary of agriculture since 2009 from Pittsburgh, PA -served as the 40th governor of Iowa from 1999 to 2007 -Vilsack attended Shady Side Academy, a preparatory high school in Pittsburgh. He received a bachelor's degree in 1972 from Hamilton College in New York. While at Hamilton he joined the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 1975 from Albany Law School. He and his wife settled in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, in 1975.

THE PURPOSE OF THE AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT

  • also known as Agriculture Department -it is responsible for developing and executing federal government policy on farming, agriculture, forestry, and food.
