The character trait of Arachne is rude because Arachne's weaving depicted the gods and goddesses unpleasantly. They looked angry and foolish.

The character traits for Athena are she is powerful because she said "By my powers your beauty will be taken. Then Medusa was turned into a monster. Her hair became a heap of snakes.

The problem in The Tangled Web is Arachne thought she was a better weaver than Athena. The solution was Athena turned Arachne into a spider.
