HOW WE GET CEREAL

  • The fairy Ceres.
  • Was the harvest fairy.
  • Gone from day til night.

  • She had a daughter Persephone.
  • She loved her doughter very much.
  • Now she told her daughter not to stray to far from home.

HOW PERSEPHONE LEFT

  • Persephone usually stayed home and made flower chains.
  • But one day she picked all the flowers form the garden.
  • So she went to find more and left home.

  • He took her underground to his kingdom.
  • He had a feast for her and everything but she would not eat.

  • She just wandered around wanting to see her mom again
  • The king finally said she could go home but first she had to eat
  • So she ate just six pomegranate seeds
  • Now while she was gone her mom would not let anything grow.

  • So she ate and went back home to her mother
  • Her mother was so happy to see her daughter. She asked did you eat anything ?
  • She said I ate just 6 pomegranate seeds

  • She said that Persephone now had to stay with the king for 6 months out of the year.
  • So that is how we get the word cereal and how we have seasons according to Greek mythology.
