PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Ancient Greek Research
So basically my research is about ancient greek. I read three stories but first I'm going to talk about my research. My research is in different category. It's like in sequence but I'm just going to talk about only 3 category. I did beliefs as my category. It talks about the beliefs about the ancient greek. Also it has sports and contributions. In sports it was about how olympic was held. And contributions is that I'm talking about some thing they left for today like theater, and acropolis.
BELIEFS
It's has been believed the first Ancient Greek civilizations were formed nearly 4000 years ago.
The ancient Greek empire spread from Greece to empire. When someone died in Ancient Greece, they would be washed. A coin would be placed in their mouth, to pay the ferrymen who took the dead across the rivers in the different parts of the Underworld.
When the Greeks conquered Egypt, they adopted the Egyptian tradition of mummification. They used simple boxes for burying their dead or the deceased would …
Sports
There were fewer events and only mens were allowed to play. And at first it was held it in Olympia.
The ancient Olympic Games were initially a one-day event until 684 BC, when they were extended to three days. In the 5th century B.C., the Games were extended again to cover five days.
The ancient Games included running, long jump, shot put, javelin, boxing, pankration and equestrian events.
Contributions
The Acropolis, was designed as a rallying point for a city under attack. It also housed the main temples.
Also Theater was a huge part of ancient Greek culture . Theater was a huge part of ancient Greek culture, with theaters in every town and competitions to find the best playwrights and actors. The word theater comes from the Greek "Theatron," which described the seating section of the outdoor arenas where people watched plays. Comedies, tragedies plays were all invented by the Greeks
The Gift Of fire
Yes this story does provide a limiting view of ancient Greece for example in this story it talks about how god thinks about humans. But when the humans children were behaving bad talking back to the god. Zeus didn't give the most important tool fire. But Prometheus felt sorry and stole one lightning bolt from Zeus. Zeus got mad and punished him with chained to a rock and burned his skin. So you could see that it is talking about how ancient greek if you make a mistake. I read other stories about the gift of fire but this is
Just a summary. Any way this story talks about how Prometheus made a mistake and had to get punished
THE SUN CHARIOT
THIS STORY IS ABOUT HOW HELIOS HAD TO BROUGHT UP THE SUN EACH DAY. SO PHAETON WAS SON OF HELIOS AND PHAETHON THOUGHT THAT HIS FATHER HAS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD. THEN ONE DAY PHAETON FRIENDS TEASE HIM THAT HE SHOULD DRIVE THE CHARIOT. THE NEXT MORNING HE BEGGED HIS DAD TO LET HIM DRIVE. AND AFTER SOME TIME THE HELPLESS
Father said Yes Phaethon caught the sun up behind him on his first swing by, and began to drag the sun across the sky. Bursting with pride, he dipped down towards the earth. He wanted his friends to see him. But he flew too close. The hot sun began to dry up oceans and rivers and left deserts in their place.
Zeus hurled a lightning bolt at the chariot as it flew by to wake Helios up. It hit the side of the chariot with incredible force. And he fell. And Helios lost his job.
So you know that it is talking about limiting information like strict with rules
Any way lets talk about what happen. It doesn't reveal that much but it does talk about what would be if you got a job for example how helios job was to bring up the sun but he let his son do the work but it got messed up and helios lost his job.
This story is Atlas was one of the Titans, son of Iapetus and Clymene, and brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius. During the Titanomachy, the War between the Titans and the Olympian gods, Atlas and his brother Menoetius sided with the Titans, while Prometheus and Epimetheus helped the Olympian gods. Atlas was the leader in the batttle; however, being on the losing side, Zeus condemned him to eternally stand on the western side of Gaea (the earth) holding Uranus (the sky) on his shoulders. This talks about a little of greek stuff for example there was a war. And Atlas life story. Also the punishment.
How is Folklore Simultaneously Revealing And Limiting ?
So based on this story's it was limiting because it talks about little about greek myths. For example it talked about little tradition and culture. And some times the life story about the god. Also this story talks about if you make a mistake you have to get punished. This does talk about greek culture but in limiting view.
