During the 1920's or also known as the Roaring 20's, men and women would dress nice, have quite a bit of money and most men had jobs. People could get expensive clothing and were able to afford expensive entertainment.

On the day known as Black Tuesday everyone wanted to sell their stocks. The banks didn't have enough money on hand to give everyone their money. On that day the United States economic "bubble" burst. That's when the Great Depression started.

Margaret Bourke-White was a photographer during the Great Depression. She captured how the Great Depression affected average Americans. In this photo this family is living out of their car during the Great Depression.

Dorothea Lange was photographer during the Great Depression. She captured the daily life of an average American. In this photo a mom and her children. They are full of dust and dirt, more than likely from a dust storm.

During the Great Depression radio was a very popular way of entertainment. Most everyone had a radio to listen to things going on across the U.S. and around the world.

Many farmers and veterans lost a lot of money during the Great Depresion. They were angry and protested quite a bit.
