What is it?

  • TED-Ed is a website featuring a collection of series of educational videos on a huge variety of subjects.
  • TED-Ed Support kids' sense of wonder through engaging short videos.
  • These videos can be used in the classroom or for professional development.

Why is it cool?

  • The videos and animations are highly engaging and as well-produced as some of the best content on television.
  • It presents complex content in comprehensible ways, using funny, kid-friendly animations.

What can you do with it?

  • You can use TED-Ed'd videos and lessons to supplement almost any subject.
  • There are three sections to each lesson: Think, Dig Deeper, Discuss
  • Think- video, multiple choice or open answer questions over the video
  • Dig Deeper (learn more)- provides additional resources to explore
  • Discuss- provides guided and open discussion questions

What is it?

  • BrainPOP Jr. is a subscription-based educational video, game, and activity site for kids in K-3rd grade.
  • It has categories divided by subject which then divides into more specific subcategories.

Why is it cool?

  • It covers a variety of topics where students can learn about everything from telling time, internet safety, and ancient Rome to dental care and getting lice (what it's like, not how to get it!).
  • It uses a varied approach to teaching that will likely suit many different types of learners.
  • Along with vidoes, there are also tons of printable activities, games, and quizzes.

What can you do with it?

  • Teachers can easily search for specific videos and activities using the search tool, which categorizes content by subject, grade, and state standard.
  • b. Short films are a terrific introduction to any topic.
  • Use the videos to spark kids' interest on a new topic or to reinforce what they've already learned in class.
