Noun & Adjective relationship

Adjectives are describing words, and their main role is to describe nouns; thus, giving more information about the person, place, thing, or idea signified. For example, tall building. The adjective, tall, describes what type of building.

Verb

A verb is a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hear, become, happen.

Oxford Dictionaries

Adverb

An adverb is a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree, etc. (e.g., gently, quite, then, there).

Oxford Dictionaries

Verb & adverb relationship

The verb and adverb relationship is very similar to the noun and adjective relationship; the verb describes what type of action, giving the action more description. For example, running fast. The adverb, fast, tells what type of running, or verb.

Pronoun

A pronoun is a word that can function by itself as a noun phrase and that refers either to the participants in the discourse (e.g., I, you) or to someone or something mentioned elsewhere in the discourse (e.g., she, it, this).

Preposition

A preposition is a word governing, and usually preceding, a noun or pronoun and expressing a relation to another word or element in the clause, as in “the man on the platform,” “she arrived after dinner,” “what did you do it for?”

Oxford Dictionaries

Conjunction

A conjunction is a word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g., and, but, if).

Oxford Dictionaries

Interjection

An interjection or exclamation is a word used to express a particular emotion or sentiment on the part of the speaker (although most interjections have clear definitions). Filled pauses such as uh, er, um are also considered interjections. Interjections are often placed at the beginning of a sentence.
