Archipelago

A group of islands.

Atoll - A ring of coral that forms an island or two in an ocean.

Bay

A large body of water surrounded by land that connects to the ocean.

Canyon-
is a narrow chasm with steep cliff walls .

Cape

A point of land that extends into the ocean and has a short life span.

Continental Divide

  • The name given to the crest of the Rocky Mountains

Delta

A rivers mouth that extends onto a body of water

Estuary-The wide and low part course of a river where its current is met by the tides.

Fjord

  • A long Inlet with steep sides

Glacier

A body of dense ice that is constantly moving.

Headwaters

  • The source of a river or stream

Island

A land mass that is surrounded by water

Isthmus-A strip of land that connects two land areas

Lagoon

  • A shallow body of water seperated by a larger body of water

A flat top area with steep sides

Ocean currents-A continuous movement of seawater due to winds,tides,& temperature

Peninsula

  • Land that is bordered by water on 3 sides 

Plateau

A high plain

Reef-Features (coral ,rocks,etc.) beneath the surface of water

  • A narrow waterway that connects two larger bodys of water
