GLOBAL WARMING

Global Warming is destroying and polluting our Earth with the greenhouse gases that we produce with our factories and cars.

SUB-TOPICS

  • Greenhouse Effect
  • Weather gone wild
  • Kyoto protocol

What is the Greenhouse Effect?
warming of the surface and lower atmosphere of a planet (as Earth or Venus) that is caused by conversion of solar radiation into heat in a process involving selective transmission of short wave solar radiation by the atmosphere, its absorption by the planet's surface, and reradiation as infrared which is absorbed and partly reradiated back to the surface by atmospheric gases

WHAT ARE THE GREENHOUSE GASES?

  • Water vapor
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Methane
  • Nitrous Oxide
  • Chlorofluorocarbans

% OF EACH GREENHOUSE GASES

PRODUCED BY?

  • Water vapor; water
  • Carbon dioxide; fossil fuels
  • Methane;
  • Nitrous oxide;microbes
  • Chlorofluorocarbons;

THE AFFECTS OF THE GREENHOUSE GASES?

  • Increase in melting of snow and ice
  • Sea level rise
  • Stronger storms
  • Desertification

Some history of why Global Warming may be happening.

How much has the weather changed since the 1880s?

WEATHER GONE WILD

  • Wild fires
  • Lightning
  • Tornadoes/hurricanes
  • Hail storms

WEATHER GONE WILD(PRT. 2)

  • Rain/floods
  • Mudslides/monsumes
  • Drought/dust storms
  • Colder winters/hotter summers

U.S. DEATHS FROM NATURAL HAZARDS BY CATEGORY, 1970-2004

Where is the weather actually made?

Surging storms are like basketball games.

What is a blocking system?

The weather is already changing and this is only the beginning.

What is the Kyoto Protocol?

Did the Kyoto Protocol actually help?

Was the Kyoto Protocol ratified? Why?

Any good news around the world?
