BACKGROUND

  • The Giraffa Camelopardalis is the tallest living terrestrial animal
  • It is an African even toed ungulate mammal

RANDOM FACTS

  • Male giraffes let the females urinate in their mouth to know if they can mate.
  • Giraffes have to spread their front legs to drink water which leaves them in a awkward position and leaves them vulnerable to predators
  • Males have a game called necking where they test their strength by rubbing their neck together to see who is stronger.

USE OF THEIR NECK

  • They use it to drink water
  • Fighting
  • They have a series of veins in their neck to prevent blood from over flowing when they bend down

USE OF TONGUE

  • Their tongue is usually 18-20 inches
  • Usually used for gripping things, and sorting through things
  • Their mouth also has thick saliva that protects them from injury

  • Since their legs are 6 feet or higher, they can easily see over trees and such things
  • They also use them to bend down and drink water in a awkward stance
