Untitled Slide

  • Raise your hand and stay calm
The first thing you need to do to get the teacher's attention is to raise your hand and stay calm. Can everyone show me how to do this? Remember that calm means you are not saying "Teacher, Teacher!" or jumping up and down in your seat. Very good.

  • Wait until the teacher says your name
Once you raise your hand you need to wait until the teacher says your name. When I say your name then you can share what you need to share. Let's try it. (I will call on a few students raising their hands nicely).

  • Ask your question
Once the teacher says your name you may ask your question. It is then your turn to talk, and we will all be respectful of that. Let's try it. (I will call on a few students and let them share, and remind other students about being respectful of the speaker).

How do we get the teacher's attention?

  • Raise your hand and stay calm.
  • Wait until the teacher says your name.
  • Ask your question
Now let's review: How do we get our teacher's attention? (Call on students to tell you the steps). Very good, now we know how to get the teacher's attention in a respectful way.
