Hi I’m Aaron and this is my project on Germany.I chose this country as I know a good bit of its history and about the country itself,so please enjoy my project.
Germany is located around Central Europe and is bordered by the North and Baltic Sea ,with it being a very large country it shares its large border with 10 other country’s such as Denmark,Poland,Switzerland,Russia,Czech republic,Austria,France,Belgium,Luxembourg and the Netherlands. With the country’s many rivers, lakes and caves it is definitely a very large and populated country so to speak. The country’s climate is mostly warm in the summer and cold in the Winter with the coldest and hottest tempatures being(July 25th 2019.40 degrees Celsius) and (2001.-37.8 degrees Celsius).
As Germany is a large country it holds many cities such as its capital Berlin,Hamburg,Munich,Frankfurt and many others. The country’s capital Berlin has an estimated 3.29 million people living in it according to the 2015 census. If it has over 100,000 people living in that area,it is called a Großstadt(large city).
As Germany is a hugely populated country it has many historic landmarks scattered around the entire country such as the Brandenburg gate,Neuschwanstein castle and the Berlin cathedral. Most notably the Brandenburg gate is an 18th century monument built by the Prussian King William II as it showed the start of the road from Berlin to Brandenburg an der Hamel.
Germany’s wide variety of food means there are tons of restaurants filled to the brim with the stuff and here are some.To start of the list there is the soverbraten(roast beef stew),Bratwurst(grilled sausage),kartoffelkloesse(potato dumpling)and for desert lebkuchen(gingerbread cookies).Plus some of these look very nice.
Over 80% of Germany’s land is used for agriculture and forestry.Between 1949 and 1997 the number of farms rapidly decreased ,in 1950 a farmer could produce food for up to 10 people by 1997 a farmer could produce food for 108 people. There are many agricultural products that Germany produce every day such as milk, pork, beef, cereal, potatoes, wheat and many more.
Germany’s population at this exact moment I am doing this is 83,744,650 which is what I would have expected. The German population hasn’t changed a lot in the past 65 years with it only changing about 8 million people,in 1955 the population was 75,537,459 according to the 1955 census. At the moment the country’s capital Berlin is the most populated city in Germany with over 3,520,031 living there at the moment.
Germany’s official language is you guessed it German with over 95% of the country speaks it daily. But there are many other languages spoken there such as English(63%),French(18%),Dutch(9%) and Italian(7%).
The current currency in Germany is the Euro and it has been since 2002.Before 2002 the German currency was called a Deutsche Mark which was introduced in 1948 to replace the Reichsmark which was created to help the 1920’s inflation problem in Germany at the time,it’s lifespan was from 1924 to 1948.
With Germany’s huge landmass there are many rivers and lakes scattered around the country such as the largest river the Danube with it being over 1,777 miles long, then the second largest river being the Rhine being 764 miles long and then finally the third largest being the Elbe being 678 miles long, there are many other rivers such as the Vlataza,Mulde and the Ohre. There are many lakes as well such as the largest lake in Germany being Lake Constance with it bordering against Austria and Switzerland, but lake Muritz is Germany’s largest inland lake.

Germany thought of idea to attack France by going through Belgium but this just created more tension between the country’s.After there last plan half worked they thought of another plan called the Schlieffen plan which was to attack France and Russia on both sides. After 4 years of fighting Germany finally surrendered on the 11th of November 1918 at 11:00 a.m. after signing the treaty of Versailles.Soon after the war the Great Depression happened and Germany’s stock market fell making the money less value and then the money got mass produced then the money started to get inflated so if wanted to buy a piece of bread it would cost 100 million Reichsmarks. In 1933 Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany which meant he could spread more of his Nazi propaganda around the country.
In 1939 Hitler decided to invade Poland which was a bad decision as it caused a bit of tension. Then as everyone started fighting he controlled France in 1940.Then in 1945 the stress got to him and he and his wife Eva Braun committed suicide to avoid being tortured by the enclosing allies. After the war the country was divided in two, East Germany and West Germany.
