George Washington

• Was the fourth president of the United States
• Was the father of the constitution

• Started his presidency on a unbalanced national economy

James Monroe

• Lost in his first run as president in 1809
• passed the Monroe doctrine 
• this kept all European nations out of North and South america   
• Was president from 
• Led America in the Era of good fealings
