PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Line
A line goes on without end in both directions.
----—-------------------------
Say: line CD or line DC
Write: --- CD or --- DC

Perpendicular lines
Two lines that form a right angle are perpendicular lines.
-----------------------------------
Say: line PQ is perpendicular to line TV.
Write: --- PQ is + to ----- TV.

Point
A point is a location in space.
----------------------------------
Say: point B
Write: B

Vertex
The common endpoint is the vertex of the angle.
-------------------------------
Say: angle C,Angle BCD,angle DCB
Write:

Right Angle
A right angle is exactly 90 degrees.
--———--------------------------------
Say:

Intersecting lines
Lines that cross each other are intersecting.
------------------------------------------------
Say: line EF and line GH intersect at point J.

Radius
A radius is any line segment that joins a point on the circle to the center of the circle.
----- DE or ---- ED is a radius of this circle.

Diameter
A diameter is any line segment that passes through the center of the circle and has its endpoint on the circle.
---- GF or ----FG is a diameter of this circle .

Chord
A line segment that has its endpoint on the circle. It does not need to pass through the center.
--GH or -- HG is a chord of this circle. The diameter, -- GF, is also a chord.

Circle
A circle is a round object that turns 360 degrees. Can turn a quarter ( 90 degrees), a half turn ( 180 degrees), a three- quarter turn ( 270 degrees), and a full turn ( 360 degrees).

Center
The center is the middle of the circle
Point D

Line segment
A line segment is part of a line. It has two endpoints.
--- QR or. --- RQ

Parallel lines lines that are always the same distance apart are parallel.
Say: line ZY is parallel to line KL

Ray
A ray is part about of a line. It has one endpoint and goes on without end in one direction.
Say: ray BA
Write: -- BA

Angle
An angle is formed by two rays with a common endpoint. The rays are the sides of the angle.
The common endpoint is the vertex.

Obtuse angle
An obtuse angle is greater than 90 degrees.

Acute angle
An acute angle is less than 90 degrees.

Straight angle
A straight angle is 180 degrees, a straight line.

Polygon
A polygon is a simple closed plain figure made up of 3 or more line segments.

Triangle
A triangle is a figure with 3 sides and 3 angles.

Quadrilateral
A quadrilateral is a figure with 4 sides that are the same length and 4 right angles.
