One geographic issue has taken place in Phoenix, Arizona. This geographic issue was a dust storm. A dust storm is caused when a lot of loose dirt is blown by very strong wind.

This dust storm was 3000 ft. tall and 30 mi. wide. This issue had a huge impact on people. This issue caused more than 50 car crashes and 8 deaths. It also caused an estimated amount of 12,000 power outages.

This effected people economically because people had to pay for the power to be fixed, their cars to be fixed, and their hospital bills if they got hurt. To fix all damage it could cost over 500,000 dollars.

During this issue there wasn't anything that was politically affected. The ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportaion) was contacted and is helping now to prevent anymore car accidents from happening. Also the police, fire department, and paramedics.

The impact on the these people socially/culturally was that schools were damaged, cars were damaged, and some houses were damaged and lost power.

As you can see the horrific dust storm in Phoenix, Arizona was a big geographic issue and impacted people politically, socially, culturally, and economically.

This problem is being solved by using an alert to inform drivers and families that there was a dust storm coming.
