TRAIT

  • Trait- A characteristic of a organism
  • You can have physical traits like brown eyes and hair or Blue eyes and blond hair.

HEREDITY

  • Heredity- The passing of traits from parent to offspring
  • Heredity is when your parents pass down biological characteristics down to their offspring

SEXUAL REPRODUCTION

  • A biological process when animals create offspring.
  • Sexual reproduction requires two organisms

ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION

  • Asexual reproduction- Reproduction not requiring fertilization
  • Asexual reproduction involves one organism.

GENES

  • The basic unit of heredity in a living thing
  • Your genes is something like the same colored eyes as your parents or hair

CHROMOSOMES

  • Chromosome
  • Chromosome- A tightly bundle of DNA and proteins found in living things.
  • DNA makes up chromosomes we have 46 chromosomes in us.

DNA

  • DNA- Found in a nucleus DNA is a long nucleic acid molecule containing, living things genetic instructions.
  • DNA is ladder shaped which makes up chromosomes.

  • Genotype-A special quality or characteristic, typically belonging to a person.
  • Genotype is the set of genes in our DNA.

PHENOTYPE

  • Phenotype- Observable traits of a organism passed down to offspring from parents.
  • Some types of Phenotypes is our eye color ,shape ,and size of our ears, and noses

ALLELE

  • Allele-Genes on specific chromosomes in specific positions
  • Allele is a trait found in the DNA of each chromosome
