PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Traits
Most all living things, like plants and animals pass traits through genes. A trait being something passed down from your family like height.
Heredity
Some living things inherit traits over time, like a racing horse might give birth to a horse born to run. Heredity is just passing of genetic characters.
Sexual reproduction
2 parents of different gender create a baby, giving it their traits with dominate traits. It is 50-50 of the parents.
Asexual reproduction
A offspring arises from a single organism, and it inherits all of its genes. Never involves ploidyor or reduction.
Genes
"Information" from both parents, making the child the way he/she looks or behaves, and the abilities it recieves
Chromosomes
DNA is wrapped around a protein forming chromosomes, DNA is a genetic blueprint. It decides if you are a human, maniti, or a potato.it is found in the nucleus of most living cells.
DNA
DNA is shaped like a twisted ladder. It carries genetic information.it also reproduces on its own.when 2 identical DNA molecules are formed , this is called replication. Chromosomes can be found at almost all of the nuclues.
Genotype
"Genotype is your genetic makeup". Each parent gives 50-50 of the offsprings genes. There can be different combos of traits. Dominant traits are expressed . Recessive are only occured when there is a missing dominant trait.
Phenotype
Observable traits like hair and eyes are phenotypes. These all come from genetic code in DNASE.the colored and sizes all decent from traits and dominant and recessive traits.
Allele
An allele trait is in your DNA's chromosomes.they are alternative forms of mutation and found in the same place as chromosomes.
