  • Huntingtons chorea also known as huntingtons disease

WHAT IT IS

  • Huntingtons disease/Huntington's chorea is when mutated genes are programmed to degenerate nerve cells in the brain.

EFFECT OF DISEASE

  • Some of the affects of the disease is loss of the ability so to:
  • Walk
  • Talk
  • Reason
  • Remember
  • Think

CAUSE OF DISEASE

  • The cause of the disease is a mutation of the chromosome pair 4 passed
  • This disease is also passed down from parents.

TREATMENTS

  • There is no know cure or effective treatment
  • Medications prescribed for fatigue,restlessness, emotion
  • Physical, speech therapy

WERE TO BE FOUND

  • Usually found within people of ages from 30-50 in all groups of people.

HOW COMMON IT IS

  • Huntingtons is a very rare disease. 7 out of 100,000 people get it.

THE GENDER

  • Both genders have an equal chance of getting the disease.

LIFE EXPECTANCY

  • The life expectancy of a person with HD is 10-30 years.

CHANGES IN LIFE

  • Need constant therapy
  • Always have someone by your side helping you
  • Probably live in a medical help center.
