The article explains the issue of gender roles in the United States by assessing the fact that each gender has a set range of colors he/she can dress in or interact with. A quote from the article states, "boys can't do anything with pink, lest they turn into girls." That quote shows as true in many situations. How many pink or purple shirts do you see placed in the men's section at a clothing store? Many of the colors found in the men's section would be shades of brown, black, grey, white, red, green or blue. If someone dresses outside of that range of colors, they are seen as an "outcast" because they are different than other people of the same gender. The article plays with these ideas and explains why they are so absurd especially in this country.
