WHAT IS A GEAR?
A gear is a modified wheel and axle.
Gears are circler.
They have teeth that mesh with each other.

Gears of many sizes can work with if each other.

HOW CAN WE USE THEM?
Gears can be used to change speed a direction.
Gears can be used to conect axles.
Gears are often used in car engines.

HOW DO WE CALCULATE THE MA?
To calculated the MA make a ratio of the teeth on the 2 gears.
Ex. The resistance gear has 4 teeth and the effort gear has 8 this makes the MA 2.
The MA mean how many times the effort gear will turn for each rotation of the resistance gear.

FUN FACTS.
The first gears where wooden.
Metal gears appeared in 87 BC.
Gears are simple machines.
