- Paulsen developed a passion for reading at an early age.

He ran way from home at the age 14 to travel with the carnival.
All of his experience gave him the ideas to create his powerful stories.
He was working as a satellite technician when he realized he realized he wanted to be a writer.
And on the job he walked out....
never to return
He was living in a cabin by a lake in northern Minnesota when he completed his first novel.
Committed to his work, Gary spent up to 20 hours a day writing his novels.
It was his overwhelming believe in young people that made him enjoy writing.
His intense desire to tap deeply into the human spirit and to encourage readers to observe and care about the world around them has brought him enormous popularity
