As I bring this speech to a close, it's not whether Dahl wrote about witches' plans to rid England of all children though poisoned sweets, a disgusted couple playing mean jokes on one another, or the sweet dream world of Willy Wonk's factory, Dahl's inspiration for his works came directly from his own childhood.
We may not instantly recognize the name Roald Dahl but I am certain we have all encountered his stories such as The BFG, James and the Giant Peach and Matilda
Now, I will like you to recall your own childhood adventures and allow your imagination to flow by itself. How would your book read? What would our world be like? Was it influenced by Dahl and his stories? Maybe you lived some of them out. Reminisce, and I believe you will find Roald Dahl's influence somewhere in your childhood.
