BATTLE sUMMARY

  • this battle was the first battle of the american civil war. on April 12-13, 1861 it was a fight for FORT sumter, which was under the control of the union. the first to open fire was confederate forces at Charleston harbor, south carolina. since the confederates had more forces than the union, commander anderson surrendered the fort.

cASUALTIES

  • Other than a few minor injuried soliders during the battle, the only casuality was a confederate horse

iMPACT OF WAR

  • This battle essentially started the civil war
  • the battle caused several new states to become confederate
  • Several rallies also happened in the north and south about the battle
