"Hi, I'm interested in enrolling my child in Kumon and I just wanted to learn more about it."

5W1H
WHAT: Kumon is an after-school math and reading program where students are assigned work to complete on a daily basis. It's not a tutoring program, instead children are learning on their own at their own pace.

5W1H
WHO: It's for children as young as PK3 to high school students, however if your child is already in high school Kumon might not be the best fit for them because the program is designed to prepare children for high school.

5W1H
WHEN/WHERE: Students come to the center twice a week, for up to half an hour each time where they will be working on their assigned classwork for that day.

5W1H
WHY: The program is designed to be completed in a short amount of time while students are making steady progress on a daily basis. As their confidence grows, their self learning ability develops and they learn valuable skills necessary to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.

5W1H
HOW: If you're interested you can sign your children up for a placement test (Q1) which is absolutely FREE. Afterwards we ask that you attend a group orientation where you will be presented with the specific details of how Kumon works.

"Hi, I just wanted to let you know that my child won't be able to attend class today."

So they can't attend...

  • Ask for the name(s) of the child(ren).
  • Check to see if it is their MAIN day.
  • Ask parents politely if they are able to come in for a HW exchange.

"... would they be able to attend class at a different time today?"

So they can't attend...

  • Check the MASTER SCHEDULE to see if there are seats available.
  • Double Check to make sure whether they are PI/EL students.
  • If they still can't make it, parents will most likely bring them in on their SECOND day.

Helpful tips!

  • Remember.. there's a form for EVERYTHING.
  • Mostly EVERYTHING.
  • Time/Date Changes, vacation requests, progress meetings, placement tests, fees, etc.
