FRIEDRICH VON STEUBEN

HIS OCCUPATIONS BEFORE,DURING, AND AFTER THE WAR
BEFORE:
As a son as Lieutenant Wilhelm Von Steuben a military engineer,and Elizabeth Von Jagvodin, he spent some of his time early years in Russia after his farther was assigned to assist Czarina Anna. Returning to Prussia in 1740, he received his education in 1740 at Breslau (Wroclaw) before serving as a volunteer with his father in 1744
During:
February 23,1778 George Washington rode out to valley forge to meet Steuben.
He served on the General Staff of Frederick the Great.
By mid-1770s he restyled himself as a Baron.
Congress appointed Steuben as a Major General and Inspector General of the continental army.
He improved the Army in many ways like:
-showed them how to dress as a respected soldier.
-Showed them how to use the bayonet.
-showed them how to execute orders quickly on the battlefield.
-and improved sanitation and organized camps.
After:
-Steuben spent the remaining years of the war working to improve the army and also began designing plans for the postwar American military.
-He resigned his commission in March 1784,and lacking potential employment in Europe decided to settle in New York City.
-He retired and sadly congress failed to give him pension and granted only a small amount of his expense claims.
-1790 congress granted him a pension of 2,500.
How His Life Was Remarkable:
Steuben stayed true to what he believed in and he believed in hard work and to earn what he has or what he wants. Steuben improved the Army and taught them many important things they should know about the Army and also certain task. When he worked hard he got to serve under George Washington. When he improved and showed how hard working and dedicated he was Congress appointed him a Major General and the Inspector General of the Continental Army.

- Work hard in what you believe in.
- Stay true to yourself.
- Believe that anything can happen with hard work.

INTERESTING FACTS:
- Steuben got financial help from two of his best friends.
- His friends Alexander Hamiliton and Benjamin Walker.
- He spent his time between New York City.
- He also had a cabin in Utica, NY and died there as well.
