PART 1: Choose a partner. Together, look at your paragraph. Number the sentences in the paragraph and on a separate piece of paper, with both of your names on it, write down the complete subject(s) and complete verb(s) in each sentence.

Make sure every sentence has at least one subject and one verb. If a sentence is missing a subject or a verb, it is a fragment!

If a sentence has several subjects and verbs, make sure it is not a comma splice or a run-on

PART 2: On a separate piece of paper (or on the draft if there is room), work together to rewrite the problematic sentences and correct any errors. The writer of the paragraph will keep this paper to help him or her edit at home. Read each sentence aloud, and make sure you do the following

1.Correct all sentence fragments, comma splices, and run on sentences.

2.Make all of the subjects and verbs agree, and make sure only necessary tense shifts appear in the paragraph.

3.Correct all punctuation, spelling, and capitalization errors.

4.Correct any unnecessary use of the second person.

5.Correct all confusing or awkward sentences.

6. Make sure the writer used GCU format properly.
