REIGN OF TERROR

  • The reign of terror began September 1793 and ended July 1794
  • Maximilian Robespierre create reign of terror.
  • The purpose of the reign of terror was to purge France of the enemies of the revolution and protect the country foreign invaders.
  • About 40,000 people died in the reign of terror.

EXECUTION OF MARIE ANTOINETTE

  • Marie Antoinette died October 1973
  • Marie Antoinette spent a lot of money and made France bankrupt.
  • She became unpopular because of all of her spending.
  • She was the first victim in the reign of terror.

THE STORMING OF THE BASTILLE

  • Happened July 14 1789
  • The first violent action of the French Revolution.

SEPTEMBER MASSACRES

  • Happened September in 1792
  • It was the first terror of the French Revolution.
  • Riots broke into prisons and killed royalist, clergy, and noble.

EXECUTION OF KING LOUIS XVI

  • His death was January in 1793.
  • He was convicted and voted for death.

DECLARATION OF RIGHTS OF MAN

  • Wanted everyone to have rights and freedom of speech but this didn't apply to women.
  • Passed by France's National Constituent Assembly in August 1789.

WOMENS MARCH VERSAILLES

  • The women marched in October 1789
  • Group of women ransacking the city for weapons and marching to king Louis's palace to confront him.
  • Women didn't have rights to do anything. They all gathered up to gain their rights.
