French Government

The Constitution

  • created on October 4th,1958
  • it was made based on the principles of General De Gaulle during his speech in Bayeux on June 16th,1946

Parliament

  • The Parliament is made up of two chambers the national assembly and the senate.
  • The parliamentary system is on the accountability of the president of the republic to the people

Houses of Parliament

  • Members of the two houses are elected by two different systems
  • examining a bill by both houses is how they make for better laws and the senator improves content

France senate

  • Local electoral office holders and member of the assembly of french citizens resident abroad elect senators
  • The 348 senators are alongside by several specialized civil servants as well as parliamentary aides in all 2,000 people work here.

Elections in France

  • France is presented as a representative democracy
  • In legislative and executive branches the public officials are either elected by citizens or appointed by elected officials.
  • The president serves a five year term as well as the national assembly.

French Government

  • The government is led by the prime minister and includes junior and senior ministers
  • The government is in charge of parliament and is at the disposal of the civil service,armed forces and government agencies
