Claude Monet was an icon to all, but what we don't know is to what inspired his great ambition. This ambition was discovered by a French painter, Édouard Manet. Of which inspired Monet by his rebellion, due to the way he broke the rules of art by using Impressionism (impressionnisme). By using impressionism this meant that when he painted, he had to use the right colours and only paint one time of day or in one sitting because of different shadows or the placement of the sun. By using his ambition, Monet used his creativity to compile his own way to paint using impressionism.
This creativity has made the name Claude Monet a famous artist as he developed art in such a monumental way. He did this by using, 'unswerving advocate of the impressionist style'. The creativity of Monet led to many great artworks such as 'Impressionist Sunrise', where he displays a time and place by a sunrise arising over the bay. 'Water Lillies' when he uses the colours to explore a sense of light throughout the reflection, and 'Haystacks' to make such a little building become one of the main images in a painting.
Therefore as expressed by Monet himself "For me a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment, but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life- the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value". In conclusion, Claude Monet was a French painter that had an ambition that he could use a style of painting that had caught his eye and made it into his on style of Impressionism. He was inspired by an artist, Édouard Manet, and created paintings that have gone down in history as one of the best artworks and one of the biggest contributions to art.
When he painted he used a style of painting called ‘impressionism or in French ’impressionnisme, that was a way of capturing a time of day and a place that no one would of seen for a long period of time due to the positioning of the sun and the change of light within a place. Claude Monet impacted the world both positively and negatively by making many contributions to art. He did this by giving mixed emotions to the audience meaning that some people thought he was good and some thought he was bad. This is represented by the juxtaposition, 'Cataracts the key to Monet's blurry style'. This juxtaposition shows us that the audience did like Monet's paintings they just didn't know why and how he painted his masterpieces. He also made a negative impact due to the way that people didn't like how he changed the way that artists painted.
This is represented by several rhetorical questions, “One reviewer said about my work, and I’m paraphrasing, ‘Is this art? Why did someone go to the bother to make this thing?”’ as stated by fellow impressionist, Donna Denis. The reviewer is asking these questions because he/she does not understand the difficulty and significance of the painting. Furthermore Claude Monet impacted the world by making people have mutual feelings about his paintings being either good or bad and some even stated that it made them feel both. For example monet's painting ‘Haystacks’ was discovered by some as just a drawing of a place but blurred or referenced as a ‘sketch’. Then others recalled that Impressionism was an amazing skill to have as you capture the exact time and light exposure.
Therefore Monet displays a mutual sense of likings but has made the world a better place by creating a new way to paint at different times.
