  • Senior Officer (colonial forces) in French & Indian War
  • 1st President of USA 
  • Wanted to unify the nation
Known as "The Father of his Country"

  • 1st Vice President of USA and 2nd President
  • MA delegate in Continental Congress
  • Advocate for independence
  • Main author of MA Constitution
  • Promoted republicanism and strong central government
Appointed George Washington as Commander-in-Chief of Continental Army.

Thomas Jefferson

  • Wrote the Declaration of Independence
  • 3rd President of USA
  • Represented Virginia in Continental Congress 
  • Governor of Virginia (1779-1781)

Fun Fact: the first public library is in Franklin, MA.
